Just Jumping On...

Hello Internet I am struggling with that to write so, I am going to copy MANY other people talking about what jobs they've had and jump on that bandwagon...
Kids of Camelot: This was my first job and I was really lucky to get it.  I only go it because I knew someone who worked there.  I started out working every afternoon with my very own group of 2 year olds.  I loved planning the lessons and watching them learn.  I worked there for a year.  After that year I had worked with all the other age groups and did summer camp.  I only quit because I had quite a lot of commitments with Madrigals.
Children's Garden:  I really enjoyed this job - for the most part - I started out working with the babies and within 2 months of getting hired I was promoted to Assistant Director.  I really enjoyed that because I got to be in charge - except the whole nasty business of firing people.  I got to show parents around the day care and put together a lovely Christmas program.  I got this job straight out of high school.  I left quite suddenly with a turn of events.  I was sad to go.  One of the best things about that job was that one day when I had just started my 6th grade teacher came in and it turns out I was watching her son.  I also loved that once I left quite a few parents took their kids out and within a few months the daycare closed.
Salt Lake Orthopaedic Centre:  I HATED this job.  I had a huge problem with the boss and I only stayed a few weeks.   Horrible!  I cant remember much about... I think I've blocked it out.
Lane Bryant:  I worked here one summer before I left for college.  I hated the job -- too much folding... but LOVED the discount.
Sear's Nanny:  This has been the very best job, and one of the best things to happen to me in my life.  I worked for an amazing family in Farmington, UT and several years later in Hershey, PA.  It was a very difficult job, at times - but the rewards of it were worth it.  When I started there were four kids - Bradford 8, Joseph 6, Abigail 4, Spencer 18 months... then baby Andrew who was born after I started.  I grew to love those kids more than I ever thought.  Now the kids are (this year) turning - 15, 13, 11, 9, and 7!  I love them like my own family and miss them tons!!!
Department of Workforce Services:   I was an accountant - I think that the title was the most shocking thing about the job. Crappy job... GREAT co-workers.  This is the longest job I have ever had.  Lots of drama, but I met some of the best people ever at this job.  I look back with very fond memories.
Buttercup Day Nursery:  This has been my first job here in England and I can honestly say - MOST days I really love my job.  I like the people I work with a lot.  I work in the baby room so most of the time I get to cuddle babies all day -- it is great.
There you go... hope that wasn't too boring... but I might jump on this "tell all" theme more often.

Two and Counting....

After the weekend I think I can confidently say I have done some damage to the car and the kitchen that will have to be left until we grow some kind of money tree.
Friday I went to a job interview.  I am not good at finding places in Salt Lake, and that's a grid system, but put me in a place where there is no rhyme or reason to the streets and I get completely lost.  I had to find the centre all on my own because Chris had work so I FINALLY found it and went to pull into the car park and I saw a sign that said "2 MPH".  I figured this was warning me to slow down because there might be children around, so I slowed down - to "5 MPH".  Right as I was doing that I hit the "Mother of all speed bumps".... It was one of those, that, I thought immediately in my head, "THATS going to do some damage!" and it did... I parked the car and went into my interview, forgetting all about it until I walked out and saw my muffler about 2 inches from the ground, clinging to dear life.  The problem comes when I have to drive home and hope that I don't hit a bump.  I pulled out onto the main road and was driving at a crawl.  Not only was I driving pretty slow I was strategically trying to miss all the man holes, bumps, and any uneven ground.  I crept home in one piece, all the while praying out loud that I could just make it home.  And how did we fix it?  Well....  Chris and I tied it up to the car with washing line string, to get to his parents and, at there his brother came up with a novel way to fix it - now the muffler is very secure with plastic cable ties.  Considering the car is about 14 years old and we purchased it for £150 and its run this well for this long, I guess I cant complain about some plastic ties.  I have become uncharacteristically complacent about my car at this point.
I also tried to put in a shelf this morning in the kitchen that I've asked Dear Husband to do several times and I cant be bothered to wait any longer.  I measured where to put holes on the wall by drawing circles on some masking tape and then using it for a template.  I started to drill and the drill ran out of battery, so I thought I'd hammer in the drill bit to make a hole for the screw.  So I got the wooden legs of our couch and proceeded to hammer in the drill bit so far that I had to make another hole next to it to get the drill bit out.  Then I tried to fill the extra hole with some blue tack (I know, I don't know why either, but it seemed like a good idea at the time) and then proceeded to screw them in... it didn't hold, so I got a small screw and hammered that into the wall above the first holes, but it ended up just connecting the two holes together, so now I have two quarter size holes in my wall and still no shelf!
So until the money tree starts sprouting pound notes, we'll have to settle for kitchen holes and cable tie mufflers....

Last Waltz for Admin....

Well... I cant believe it... today is my very last day in this office.  It is bittersweet.  I am so glad I can finally throw away my "rule" books about accounting.  I wont miss a lot of the people that I work with.  Most of them could compete professionally if backstabbing were a sport.  I wont miss a lot of things... but it seems like the things I will miss far outweigh the bad, they are the things that have kept me coming back to work after 3 1/2 years - even though I am doing accounting, and got D- throughout school in math.  I will miss my own office.... I will miss working with my brother.... I will miss the freedom I had here (2 hour lunches if needed ;)) and of course, more than anything, the people I call friends now - not co-workers - THEY've kept me coming back and I was lucky for that!

On a very side note... check out Chris' blog entry http://spaces.msn.com/members/flattley/ - tell me that isnt the sweetest thing ever!!!

Its official....

Yesterday I decided to tell my cute nanny family that I am moving to PA to help them for sure.  I dont know when I leave yet, but it will be soon... within weeks...  I was okay with the decision, until I actually talked to the family and realized what a HUGE job this is going to be - 5 kids and me in charge of all of them - all of the time... ALL of the time...  it just compacted my bad day...  Here is a list of things that made my day bad...

1.   WORKING FOR THE DISHONEST, UNDERHANDED, THOUGHTLESS, THEIFS - I call them my bosses, you call them the Government... I had no idea just how corrupt the government is - now I do and it is worse than anyone thinks...

2.  I went to do piano lessons and finished in 5 minutes with 25 more to fill because she didnt practice... LISTEN to your mother -- practice your piano!

3.  I thought maybe to calm me down I would drive through the canyon -- I got up there and all the leaves had fallen off the tree and, apparently - were no longer as beautiful as they were 2 days ago...

4.  I drove on the skinny road and freaked myself out because there wasnt room for 2 cars so as soon as I got about 2 minutes into the canyon I turned around. I had freaked myself out about falling down the cliff because of the small road...

5.  I decided to try another canyon and got high enough up in the Bountiful mountains to see the entire Davis County... but still no leaves...

6.  I decided to just look at all the HUGE houses and got myself carsick doing that -- I guess there is a first for everything - my friends will understand - its now official I cant even drive and not get carsick.

7.  I hate the stupid Baseball playoffs -- ruin my FOX program viewing...

8. And then the whole announcement -- come November I'll be a mother of 5 - not a nanny a mother...

And poor Chris and Kim get the brunt of it... let me say publicly... sorry I'm horrible sometimes...

Computer Packing...

Well... the time has come for me to pack up my things and move to my new office.  I have been at this office for almost 3 years!  I move to my new office next Friday.  So I am moving my files and pictures (there are WAY more than I thought there would be)....  and storing some online until they can find a happier home....  so that is the reason for the sudden rush of random pictures....
